On Sunday, around 10 past six in the morning, the driver of Porsche Boxster Spyder was reportedly caught driving well over the speed limit.

According to Wilfred Kgasago from the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department, the driver was caught going 218km/h on the N3 in Joburg. To add his crime, the car was missing a rear number plate.

The 35-year-old, who tested his car's speed limit on the N3 between the Geldenhuys interchange and the Rand Airport off-ramp, claimed he was in a hurry to get to a Golf game, for which he was already late.

However, gathered cops did not see his excuse as fitting and since he was way over the speed limit, the man was arrested for reckless and negligent driving.

He was taken alongside three other men to the holding cells at the Germiston police station. Maroela Media reported all four men were released on R1000 bail but are expected to return to court soon.
