Talk show host, Redi Tlhabi, recently shared a tweet highlighting how her mother was treated by her in-laws subsequent to his death.
Briefly.co.za previously reported on how Lerato Sengadi, wife of the late HHP, was snubbed by the rapper’s family at his funeral.
Sengadi recently won a court battle for recognition as HHP’s legal wife.
It seems Tlhabi is able to relate as her own mother was the victim of similar treatment at the hands of her in-laws.
Her tweet stated: “My dad’s family were AWFUL to my mom. AWFUL. She was 35. They were all MUCH older & tried to break her.”
She rounded off the tweet in jest by adding that the family also accused her of selling her late father’s house soon after his death – even though she was only 9 years old at the time.
Tweeps saw the funny side with some commenting on her real estate skills as a 9-year-old.
Briefly.co.za noted a common theme as numerous tweeps re-iterated the treatment received from paternal family in similar instances.
Radio personality, Criselda Dudumashe, weighed in on the debate as well, citing her own experience when she was widowed.
Via Instagram she posted, "I was young and impressionable, lobola fully paid, I gave birth to a baby daughter he regarded me as his wife everybody knew this. When he died I was treated like I had leprosy.”
She concluded by cautioning people to be mindful of Karma as children reap what their parents sow.
