Briefly.co.za compiled a list of some local celebs that all have one thing in common: roots in Zimbabwe.
While Nadia grew up in South Africa, her gran was of Zimbabwean decent and nicknamed her ‘Nakai’, which means beautify. To remember her family’s heritage, the rapper adopted this as her stage name.
The acclaimed actor was born in Zimbabwe and spent some of his early years there before relocating to the UK. Luthuli later tried to trace his African roots before he opted to stay in Mzansi to pursue a career in acting.
The ‘Morning Live’ presenter has a lot in common with Luthuli Dlamini as he was also born in Zimbabwe but later moved across the pond. Peter then moved back to Zimbabwe to finish his education and to start his TV career, before it took off in SA.
According to ZAlebs, the singer and her family moved around a lot when she was a kid, however, she was born in Zimbabwe and did spent a few years of her childhood there too. Eventually her parents relocated once again before they settled in Mzansi.
The musician was born in Zimbabwe and stayed there until he was a teenager. He later moved to SA to try to break into the music industry.
The ‘Generations’ actress was born in Zimbabwe and moved to Cape Town in 2012. Since then she has travelled around the country to pursue her love of acting and theatre.
