Woman rallies tweeps to help child-headed family living in poverty

A concerned woman in Umtata, Eastern Cape, took to Twitter recently to appeal for help for a child-headed family living in a rundown house.

Nosicelo Bungane posted photos of the dilapidated house on her Twitter profile, Briefly.co.za gathered. She wrote:

Please help retweet this until it reaches people who can help. This is my neighbour's household that is child-headed. The oldest is doing grade 8 and takes care of two other kids with grant money.

Part of the grass-thatched rondavel's wall has completely broken down. The family was forced to use iron sheets to block the large gap.

Nosicelo appealed for donations to build the family a decent house. She provided cellphone contacts as well as banking details for those willing to donate.

Tweeps have responded positively to Nosicelo's appeal, retweeting it more than 3,700 times so far. Some offered to donate clothes and food, while others offered suggestions of charities that could help.
