An inspirational woman from Matimatolo in KwaZulu-Natal went from being a domestic worker to a graduate teacher.
48-year-old Bonisiwe Hlongwa worked as a domestic worker for more than 10 years until 2003 when she got married, SowetanLIVE reports.
Her parents passed away when she was still in school, Briefly.co.za gathered. Despite her hardships, she never gave up on her dream of being a teacher.
Bonisiwe finally achieved her dream when she graduated with a teaching diploma from SANTS Private Higher Education Institution. She took three years to obtain her qualification.
To cap it off, she has already landed a job teaching Grade R pupils at a local primary school — and she absolutely enjoys it.
An elated Bonisiwe said at one point, she never thought she could get to this milestone. She's now a proud mom of two kids and wants to inspire them:
It is important for me to continue with school so that I can be an inspiration to my children. They can learn from me - even though I am at this age, I can achieve a lot.
She also credited her former employer, who treated her as a sister and encouraged her to study.
