Police officers racing to the scene of a crime came to a complete standstill due to a massive sinkhole.
They had no real option except to trust that assistance will evacuate their van. However, they weren't the only victims of the gaping holes.
A school bus had additionally suffered the same fate close by.
Bekkersdal residents had their hands full as they pulled both the police and bus out.
Poor students were stranded and stood by the side of the road while their transport was stuck.
Inhabitants said despite the fact that the municipality filled the sinkholes, they opened up again in a matter of weeks.
The Daily Sun reported that Thokozani Mncube, a community leader, is deeply concerned by the state of affairs. He said, “No one cares about people’s lives and cars are getting damaged.”
Bekkersdal sits alongside a mining territory and has for quite some time been pestered by sinkholes. Stressed occupants feared their houses would 1 day be buried in the sinkholes as well.
Rand West City representative Tshidiso Tlharipe said they have named a contractor to repair the street.
