Using the word 'retarded' is used often to describe people who do stupid stuff. We're probably all guilty of it at some point in our lives.

However, we don't often stop to think of the pain one simple word cause inflict on others.

The word is also often used to describe people who have Down Syndrome - a very ugly word to use for special people.

Rachel, the mother of a little girl with Down Syndrome turned to social media to ask people to stop using the word to describe her daughter, Grace.

Here's what Rachel said:

My daughter Grace happens to have an extra chromosome that happens to make her extra loving. Grace knows she's different, I see her struggle with it everyday. She doesn't need the world to remind her of that in a hateful way. Please STOP using the word "Retarded"

South Africans couldn't help but comment on how adorable and beautiful Grace is, and what a wonderful mom she has.
