Yesterday, the world lost another legend, Stan Lee, the father of Marvel. He turned fantasy into reality and a multi-billion dollar industry.
Mr.Lee has made such a huge impact on the world of superhero’s that he will never be forgotten. He was the man who brought superheroes to life.
At the incredible age of 95, the legends series ended. Stan passed away battling a strong case of pneumonia. He was declared dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles on Monday, 12 November 2018.
"My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man," J.C Lee, Stan’s daughter, said about her father.
Briefly.co.za learnt that Stan’s life motto was ‘Excelsior’ an old word that means 'upward and onward to greater glory'. He lived that motto to its fullest and let glory surround him.
Lee was the top comic book writer for Marvel Comics as well as a publisher. His work was so innovative and creative that he was labelled the architect of contemporary comic books.
It was in the 1960s that Stan gave life to the industry by giving readers something they could not put down. With detailed costumes, well thought out storylines and detailed backgrounds, Stan crafted superhero’s like works of art.
Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the Incredible Hulk, are just some of his master pieces. Stan was a true creative genius.
There were so many ideas in his head that he was able to produce a new comic every day for 10 years straight. He found his calling and he lived it.
Living a whole 95 years of a full and rich life, Stan definitely did not die unfulfilled. He always made it clear that he loved his life and everyone around him.
“I like being with people. I like talking to them. I like everything about my life, so it's fun,” said Stan.
Stan saw comics as “fairy tales for grown-ups”. He allowed adults to hold onto childhood fantasies by giving them something that was so much more than the general prince charming. He allowed us to wonder and taught us to believe again.
RIP Stan Lee, you will never be forgotten.
“And now, until we meet again, may the blessings of Asgard be showered upon you!” - Stan Lee, Balder the Brave.
