In the video, Tim Tesseneer sees a minivan driving through shallow beach water.

He and his wife were confused by what they saw as it seemed the vehicle was heading deeper into the water.

They then heard cries for help from children from the minivan.

Tim immediately reacted and raced towards them.

As he approached, he saw one of the children hanging out by the window screaming, “Please help us. Our mom is trying to kill us.”

He then saw another child battling for control of the steering wheel with the mother.

Tim was joined by another man, named Stacy, and the pair tried to persuade the woman to stop the car.

Unfortunately, she just gave them a blank stare and turned left deeper into the ocean.

Stacy clung on and managed to open the back door to pull 1 of the children out.

More people witnessed the dramatic encounter and were able to rescue the second child.

At that point, they realise the presence of another child – a toddler.

As the tide threatens to swallow the vehicle, the rescuers bravely evacuate the toddler as well.

The mother is seen walking away calmly as the events unfolded.

She is eventually charged with 3 counts of felony child abuse but found not guilty on an insanity plea.

It later emerges that the woman was pregnant with a 4th child but the father now has custody of all 4 children.
