Chelsea became an elite club after Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003. Over the last 10 seasons, they’ve spent the third most on player transfers. Briefly.co.za takes a look at some of the highest paid players at the club.
Cesc Fabregas - £156,000 per week
Not a bad wage for someone who struggles to make the starting line-up.
The Spaniard was one of the best creative midfielders in the world not long ago.
He started his English premiership career at Arsenal then moved to Barcelona in 2011.
The 31-year-old then joined Chelsea in 2014 and helped them to another league title.
He currently boasts the record for second most assists ever in the EPL but now doesn’t seem suited to manager Sarri’s fast-paced playing style.
Kepa Arrizabalaga - £192,000 per week
Chelsea’s new goalkeeper is breaking all sorts of financial records.
Currently, he’s the world’s most expensive goalkeeper and earns the second highest salary at Stamford Bridge.
Arriving for £71.6 million this season after Curtois’ departure, Kepa is already making a name for himself with 5 clean sheets this season.
Eden Hazard - £200,000 per week
There should be little doubt about who commands the highest wages at Chelsea.
Hazard is their big fish and has been for a number of seasons now.
The 27-year-old is their most valuable player and is regularly courted by Real Madrid.
The current figure may increase drastically due to 2 reasons – the Belgian’s contract is winding down and the player’s head may be turned with a concrete bid from Madrid.
