A lucky man in New York, United States, finally won the Powerball jackpot this week after playing the same numbers for 25 years.

Thisisinsider.com reports that 67-year-old Robert Bailey claimed his massive $343million winnings, which came to around $125m after taxes, on Wednesday.

He recalled how stunned he was when he discovered his numbers, 8-12-13-19-27, had won. He said he didn't even sleep that night.

Speaking to NBC News, Bailey said he sought advice on how to invest the money and use it wisely. He added that he doesn't want money to change who he is:

I still want to be me; I can't let money change me. But I want to do the right thing and take care of it for the next generation in my family.

Bailey's other plans include travelling and buying his mother a house, Briefly.co.za gathered. He also took steps to protect his family's identity to keep them safe.

The lucky winner wore dark sunglasses when he agreed to hold a publicity photoshoot, presumably with safety considerations in mind. Amazingly, he plans to keep playing the lottery.
