So many women have suffered in silence as they experience abuse from their partners. And in a lot of cases married ladies stick with their husbands for the sake of their marriage.

However, one woman took to social media to give advice to ladies who suffer emotional abuse in marriages.

Social media user @t0nit0ne wrote women should realise marriage does not entail emotional abuse.

"Dear black women, when it comes to getting married, enduring emotional pain is not a necessary rite of passage. Don't let people fool you."

In another post she wrote if a man truly loves his wife he would not expect her to be his emotional punching bag.

"A man who truly loves you won't judge your devotion to him based on how much ill-treatment you can tolerate. Any man who does, is an emotional abuser and manipulator," she added.

Briefly.co.za gathered other tweeps agreed with @t0nit0ne.

Social media user @justchantal wrote: "A lot of women will endure it just to say I’m the wife meanwhile they are hurting in secret."
Another tweep, @thandotee_nkosi, commented: "The fact that the pain we are willing to endure is used as a measuring stick of our worth. What a joke mah darling."
