President Ramaphosa turned 66 on the 17th of November, and South Africans wished him the best day, despite him being in Ethiopia at the time. The president thanked everyone for wishing him a happy birthday with a short video.
President Ramaphosa was in Ethiopia on 17 November to attend the 11th Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
It was also the day the president celebrated his 66th birthday.
Although he couldn't be home to celebrate his special day with his fellow countrymen, Ramaphosa still appreciated the many well wishes he received.
The president filmed a short video in which he expressed his happiness and gratitude.
It feels good to be given so many well-wishing messages by all the people of South Africa. I would have preferred to be at home near all our people in South Africa - but here I am.
South Africans took to social media to wish the president a very good birthday since it was impossible to do so in person.
