South Africans on social media ring alarm bells over loadshedding

Eskom announced last week that the likelihood of loadshedding being implemented during the festive season is high.

Just days later, the state power utility company implemented stage one loadshedding across South Africa on Sunday.

South Africans took to social media to vent their frustrations at the prospect of a dark festive season, Briefly.co.za gathered.

Since Saturday was President Cyril Ramaphosa's birthday, one tweep had a hilarious take on loadshedding.

Some South Africans blamed loadshedding on incompetence and corruption.

Others couldn't understand why loadshedding took place on the "quietest day of the week."

The heatwave in some parts of the country was also a source of concern - and puzzlement - for some.
