Video shows thug shot dead after mall chase in Limpopo

South Africans were left shook after a video was posted on social media which showed a man killing a thief who stole from him.

On Monday, CCTV cameras captured a chase and shooting at Cycad Mall in Polokwane, Limpopo. The video has since made its way online and shows a thug running towards a silver Toyota Corolla sedan with the victim hot on his heals.

However, just as he tried to get into the reversing get-away car, the civilian shoots him and the thief is seen falling to the ground as his accomplices speed away.

A 10 second clip of the incident was posted on Twitter by @stolencarRSA, along with the caption:

"WARNING! NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS. VIDEO OF A SUSPECT BEING SHOT AFTER A ROBBERY AT CYCAD SHOPPING CENTER, POLOKWANE, LIMPOPO.YESTERDAY."

Briefly.co.za gathered the footage sparked a massive response on Twitter and South Africans were quick to give their two cents on the matter.

Mbuelo Ramafamba, who goes by the Twitter handle @MbueloRamafamba, commented: "Sad that with this video as evidence, he will be charged and tried for murder. Our justice system protects criminals and jails innocent people. A criminals gets away with murder. An innocent person gets locked away for self defense. No good goes unpunished in this country."

Another video was then posted, which showed the dead criminal on the ground while the man explained the thugs were targeting him.
