South Africa fell in love with a heart-warming video showing a team of rugby players donating a food parcel to the cleaning lady at their University.
The video has gone viral and South Africans were moved by the inspirational gesture.
The rugby players hail from the University of Fort Hare and they felt the need to show their gratitude to the woman who has cleaned their residence for the past year.
According to the students, Nolitha Ncata is more than a cleaner to them – some regard her as a mother or grandmother.
TimesLive reported that the idea was sparked with the December festivities in mind.
One of the players, named Zuko said, "The idea came about because of the treatment she has given us and the relationship we have built with her. We thought of a way we could do this and the food parcel was the best idea since it's December and families get together and food would really go a long way."
The young men said they also appreciate the fact that the motherly figure cooks for them and gives them advice when needed.
As an added bonus, the young men decided to clean the residence on her behalf to give her time to unwind.
They then called Nolitha into the room where they unveiled the gift. She was overcome with emotion and started crying tears of joy.
She said, "I am over the moon. The boys did something I didn't expect at all."
Briefly.co.za gathered the food parcel contained many household essentials, such as sugar, baked beans, maize meal, oil, eggs and juice, among others.
Nolitha revealed that cleaning after young men is not the easiest of jobs but that they were like her own children.
