An ambitious South African entrepreneur ditched her IT degree to start a successful venture in the fashion industry.
Chaz Jojo Ngaka founded Kala Lifestyle about 10 years ago, Briefly.co.za gathered. It is now a notable brand in the local fashion industry.
According to Twitter influencer Sure Kamhunga, Chaz has supplied clothing items for major retailers such as Edcon, Jet, and Soviet.
Kala's website reveals that Chaz has always harboured a dream of owning a successful business. Now that she owns one, it means much more:
It is also being part of a greater vision of creating jobs for fellow South Africans and indeed giving everyone a chance to have a piece of the economic pie.
Kala is also a 100% black- and female-owned company that uses 60% locally manufactured fabrics.
A peek at Chaz's Instagram profile reveals that she manufactures shoes, handbags, scarves, hats, and other fashion accessories.
The Industrial Development Corporation is reportedly set to fund the expansion of Chaz's business. This will increase her staff to 120.
The company currently has six full-time employees and up to 50 more working in its factory on a part-time basis.
