South Africans took to Twitter to celebrate Banyana Banyana's exciting 7-1 win over Equatorial Guinea last night.

The two countries faced off in a Group B match of the Africa Women Cup of Nations, Briefly.co.za gathered. They played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in Ghana.

Thembi Kgatlana led the way with two goals and secured the woman of the match award. Banyana Banyan will face Zambia in their next game on 24 November.

Tweeps applauded the women's team not only for their win, but also for their dazzling performance.

Some tweeps couldn't resist drawing comparisons between Banyana Banyana and Bafana Bafana, sometimes hilariously.

Others called for the South African Football Association (SAFA) to give Banyana Banyan the same level of support and pay as they do Bafana Bafana.
