South Africans welcomed President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement of Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams' appointment as the minister of a merged department made up of the Telecommunications and communications departments.

So, in honour of the vibrant Ndabeni-Abrahams' appointment as a minister in Ramaphosa's cabinet, Briefly.co.za decided to gather five quick facts about her life and career.

1. Early life

The 39-year-old minister was born Thembisile Stella Ndabeni in Sakhela Village in Mthatha, reports indicated. Ndabeni-Abrahams does not disclose much details about her private life and not much is known about her family.

2. Personal life

Ndabeni-Abrahams usually keeps her personal life out of the spot light. However, her marriage to hubby Thato Abrahams gathered attention in 2012 after a cheating scandal.

According to reports by the Sunday World, Abrahams allegedly had an affair with ANCYL NEC member Sizophila Mkhize.

3. Education

According to website People's Assembly, Ndabeni-Abrahams has several higher education qualifications under her belt. She is the proud recipient of an Advanced Certificate in Project Management, which she obtained from Rhodes University.

She also has a Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation Diploma in Telecommunications and Managements Systems. Ndabeni-Abrahams then went on to obtain a Certificate in Telecommunications, Policy and Regulation Management from Wits University.

The new Home Affairs Minister also holds a Project Management Diploma and is currently busy pursuing a Masters in Business Management Administration at Regent Business School.

4. Career in the ANC

Ndabeni-Abrahams has been a member of Parliament since 2009 and she served as the deputy minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services prior to her appointment as minister on Thursday.
