South Africans on Twitter have applauded cops for foiling an attempted cash-in-transit heist in the Free State province yesterday.
Crime Air Network Initiative shared the news on Twitter along with photos of the scene, Briefly.co.za gathered. It wrote:
Money truck robbers nailed by police team 10km before Qwaqwa from Bethlehem, Free State. SAPS operation intercepted them before they could execute their attack on piggy bank.
According to TimesLIVE, the Hawks and crime intelligence operatives jointly conducted the operation. A shootout claimed the life of one suspect and police arrested five others.
Cops also recovered firearms from the suspects. Hawks spokesperson Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi explained:
The suspects were being followed. We had a project which was running with the view that this group was planning to execute a cash-in-transit heist.
Twitter users showered praises on the law enforcement agencies for nabbing the suspects.
