The days when South African celebs were unknown in the rest of the world are over. South Africa is home to wonderful talent and the rest of the world realised this a while ago. But Charlize Theron and Sharlto Copley aren't the only celebs making their mark globally.
South Africa cradled great talents on its soil. Brenda Fassie and Charlize Theron aren't the only names known to the world.
Many of our stars have been shining so bright that the world couldn't help but notice them.
As reported by ZAlebs, Charlize Theron was for a long time the only SA name known to the world, but that has changed.
Briefly.co.za took a look at some of our stars that made their mark on the world in their own unique ways.
Here they are, in no specific order:
Nomzamo, or Zamo, as she is affectionately called, is one of South Africa's most internationally popular actresses. Her philanthropic actions also made her a crowd favourite. She managed to bag the role of ambassador for the global brand Puma.
Beautiful Sho made a name for herself with her immense talent. She has a worldwide following and performed across the globe. She also performed at the New York Global Citizen Concert, and her unique style is appreciated by the rest of the world.
Thuso is considered one of SA's sweethearts. She's a two-time nominee for the international Emmy award for her brilliant talent. Thuso also won a South Africa Film and Television Award.
The Faka twins made their names as unique visuals artists, and just a few months ago, Donatella Versace used their music in one of her fashion shows. Their bold, sexual sound and look has gained the two quite a big international following.
SA born Nakhane is based in London, UK these days and is taking his unique music all over the world. Sadly, the star was sent death-threats by a homophobic group, but he did not let it bring him down. He is still a proud and award-winning artist who travels the world, bringing his music to those who love him.
