- Jackson Mthembu, Chief Whip of the African National Congress, says the ruling party should have defended Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan, a long time ago
- This comes after the EFF has intensified its attacks against the minister
- Mthembu doesn't understand why the ANC hasn't come to Gordhan's defence yet
The ANC's Chief Whip says he doesn't understand why his party hasn't come forward to defend Minister Pravin Gordhan yet.
Jackson Mthembu feels the ANC should have come to Gordhan's defence against the EFF a long time ago.
EWN reports that Mthembu told Bongani Bingwa from 702 that the ANC should have defended Gordhan immediately.
I would have also expected my organisation not on the third, fourth or fifth day, but on the same day to defend our member.
The EFF has been very vocal on their views of the Public Enterprises Minister and demonstrated outside the building where Gordhan was testifying at the state capture inquiry commission.
According to the EFF, Gordhan is a corrupt liar and even dragged his daughter, Anusha Gordhan, into the fight, saying she scored R80 million of tenders for her father.
However, Investec has released a statement denying allegations.
Mthembu called the EFF bullies that are trying to divert attention from their own wrongdoings
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that Mthembu stated on social media that bullying behaviour reminds him of the apartheid times.
