Breaking his social media silence, just two weeks after his resignation as home affairs minister, Malusi Gigaba has shown he won’t be going anywhere.

Posting photos on Instagram, Gigaba let us have a look at what he is up to at the moment- a door-to-door campaign for the ANC.

Gigaba had revealed in his resignation letter that he was leaving to relieve President Cyril Ramaphosa of “undue pressure” so that Ramaphosa could “focus on improving the lives of South Africans”.

Briefly.co.za had reported that on the 13th of October, news broke that embattled Malusi Gigaba sent the head of state a letter of resignation.

According to BusinessLIVE, the president was set to take action against Gigaba, who had a rough couple of weeks, on Wednesday. Opposition parties pressed for Gigaba to step down or be sacked after the public protector found that he had violated the constitution by lying to the court about the details surrounding the Fireblade Aviation situation.

A raunchy tape, supposedly meant for his wife, had also surfaced and only served to put more pressure for Gigaba to step down.

After an understandable silence on social media, Gigaba has bounced back posting images of himself and teammates cleaning storm water drains and handing out sanitary pads in Limpopo. He captioned the images with the president’s catchphrase #ThumaMina.
