A man was left devastated after he found out the love of his life and his best friend of the past two decades attempted to have him killed- all because he stood in their way of being together.

Ray Weatherall, 53, was living with terminal brain tumours three-years-go when his wife and best friend plotted to kill him.

Hayley Weatherall, 32, was having an affair with her husband's best friend, 49-year-old Glenn Pollard.

According to the Sun, the Maidstone Crown Court, in London, heard how Hayley and her lover planned to dispose of Weatherall.

The cheating duo considered everything from drowning him to using poison to get the job done. However, after 10 months of planning, they finally persuaded Pollard’s daughter, Heather, to help them.

So, in November 2017, then 19-year-old woman shot Weatherall in the face with a .22 rifle while he and his son were busy cutting down a tree.

However, luck was on Weatherall's side when the bullet got lodged in his jaw and he survived the attack.

Weatherall's niece found out about Hayley and Pollard's affair and she tipped off the cops- which led to the arrest of all three suspects.

However, despite the horrible plan Hayley hatched against him, Weatherall said he still loves his wife and it breaks his heart that she would be in jail during his last years of life.

Weatherall added he wished they could have been honest with him about the affair in stead of attempting to kill him.

“I will go out of this world with her in my heart. It’s never going to change," Weatherall said.
