Andile Jali, a midfielder for the Mamelodi Sundowns, has withdrawn counter charges against his wife.
Jali had laid the charges against his wife Nonhle Ndala, reality TV star, after his arrest in October.
Briefly.co.za had reported earlier that Andile allegedly assaulted his wife Nonhle Ndala and police refused to release him from custody. The soccer star is also accused of damaging Nonhle's car and faces a charge of malicious damage to property.
Andile had spent a night in jail and was released on bail for R1500 by the Hatfield Magistrates Court in Tshwane.
Constable Yeroboam Mbatsane, the spokesman for Boschkop police, has confirmed that the midfielder has withdrawn his charges. He said that Jali had submitted a written statement to this effect on Thursday.
Andile Jali is expected back in court on the 6th of December.
