A group photo of Wits University mining engineering graduates has inspired thousands of South Africans on Twitter.

One of the graduates, Romeo Maila, shared the photo on his Twitter profile yesterday, Briefly.co.za gathered. He captioned it:

BSc Mining Engineering (Honours) Class of 2018. It was not an easy road, but we finally conquered the Wits edge.

More than 2,100 Twitter users liked the photo, which also racked up over 360 retweets. Tweeps noted that an overwhelming number of those graduates were black.

They therefore hailed them as symbols of black excellence. Tweeps also wished them well as they enter the job market.
