- The Economic Freedom Fighters' Deputy President, Floyd Shivambu, told the African National Congress' Chief Whip, Jackson Mthembu, to see a psychiatrist
- Shivambu said this in response to Mthembu's defence of Minister Pravin Gordhan on social media
- Mthembu called the EFF's criminal charges against Gordhan a defamation of character
Floyd Shivambu, Deputy President of the EFF, told the ANC's Chief Whip, Jackson Mthembu to see a psychiatrist.
This was in response to Mthembu saying the EFF and Julius Malema lied about the charges they opened against Public Enterprises Minister, Pravin Gordhan.
As reported by The Citizen, News24 published a fact-check about the EFF's allegations, but Shivambu says they are not law enforcement. Shivambu is confident that Gordhan will be found guilty.
Mthembu took to social media to defend Gordhan and said the EFF's charges are defaming Gordhan's character.
Shivambu reacted and said Mthembu must see a psychiatrist.
Since when is @News24 a law enforcement agency which can exonerate criminals? We have evidence and we will secure a conviction. In the meantime, please see a psychiatrist.
In the meantime, the minister brushed off the EFF's charges of fraud, money laundering, racketeering and corruption against him as an abuse of the justice system.
Their so-called ‘charge sheet’ is baseless, containing a set of lies, fake news and fabrications. It is simply their latest attack on the continuing efforts to combat corruption and theft in state-owned companies and other public institutions.
The minister laid charges of crimen injuria, criminal defamation and incitement to commit violence against the EFF and Malema, as reported on earlier by Briefly.co.za.
