Former Springbok and Cheetahs player, Naka Drotské, is in hospital after he was shot 3 times during a home invasion in Kameeldrift, Pretoria.
Drotské remains in a critical condition after the attack that took place on Thursday evening, 29 November.
According to a report by The South African, Drotské was with his brother, Tienus, his 3 children and Os du Randt after a braai, when 3 heavily armed attackers entered the home.
A report by IOL News indicates that Drotské got shot when he tried to protect his family and friends. No one else was seriously injured.
Kay Makhubela, police spokesperson, stated that the former Springbok player was taken to Netcare Montana Hospital and is in the ICU.
So far a case of attempted murder and robbery has been open at the Kameeldrift Police Station, but no arrests have been made yet. We are calling on people who have any information to come forward and assist in trying to help with the arrest of the suspects.
On their way to the hospital, the vehicle with the injured rugby legend veered off the road and 2 tyres burst. Fortunately, they were picked up by a passing car and taken to hospital.
