Social media users were left shocked after a lady shared a video of her daughter's teachers doing a rendition of the famous 1992 movie Sister Act.
Dressed in full nun attire, teachers performed the famous dance to the hit song 'I Will Follow Him'. However, one of the teacher played the part of Whoopi Goldberg's character- in blackface.
Blackface is a form of makeup, where a white person paints his/her face black to represent an African person. However, blackface is associated with an incorrect stereotype surrounding black people and has been widely criticised as racist.
Social media user @LeloMaisela posted the video on social media.
"Guys am shaking right now, just came back from my daughters prize giving and as a last act the teachers did an Sister Act rendition and they blackfaced, am so confused as to why they thought this was a good idea. @MYANC @Julius_S_Malema @tumisole do they not know that is wrong?" she captioned the post.
@LeloMaisela said she was the only black parent who felt the teacher in blackface was wrong and one parent even accused her of overreacting. However, many tweeps echoed her sentiments, Briefly.co.za gathered.
