- A heart-warming wedding took place recently where all the guests voluntarily gave up their eyesight as the couple said their vows
- Stephanie Agnew was diagnosed with cone-rod dystrophy and had no idea what the groom looked like
- The couple got married at a special venue that Stephanie was familiar with so she could visualise her big day
Stephanie Agnew and Robbie Campbell were neighbours for 18 months without having met.
Stephanie recalled that her career in real estate and Robbie’s job as a policeman meant the 2 never crossed paths.
They eventually met in October 2016 but Stephanie was initially put off by Robbie’s over-eagerness.
About a month later, Stephanie agreed to go on a date with Robbie and the couple have been inseparable ever since.
Unfortunately, Stephanie has no idea what Robbie looks like – she lost her eyesight just prior to meeting him.
Metro News reported that she was diagnosed with cone-rod dystrophy, which affects the retina.
Briefly.co.za understands that Robbie proposed to Stephanie about a year later.
Café Mom reported that wedding guests were invited to all wear blindfolds during the vows to help them relate to Stephanie’s experience.
The 54 wedding guests embraced the offer and the Australian couple appreciated the gesture.
Another special fact is that the wedding venue was in the same road as where Stephanie’s great aunt lived. This enabled her to visualise the setting based on her fond childhood memories.
