Groom David Hoffman stood nervously in his wedding suit.

He stared forward in anticipation of the long-awaited tap on his shoulder – the moment he would turn around and see his beautiful bride for the first time.

Hoffman braced himself as he felt the tap and turned around in excitement.

To his shock, it was not the love of his life, but rather his best man wearing a wedding dress and veil.

Hoffman immediately saw the bridesmaids chuckling in the background and he burst into laughter.

The best man, Timmy Horton, had been searching online for wedding jokes and ran it by the bride-to-be, Brianne Dennis.

SWNS reported that Dennis was initially reluctant as she wanted everything to run smoothly.

Eventually, she relented and gave her blessing for the prank to be played.

Hoffman later said, "He was pale and hairy and we love each other very much, but not in that way.”

Briefly.co.za understands that Hoffman welcomed the moment of comic relief as it broke some of the wedding day jitters.

Dennis is thrilled she agreed to it as the photos serve as a reminder of their memorable day.
