Professor Kelly Chibale is making a name for himself at a rapid rate as he was named as 1 of the world’s 50 greatest leaders.
The Zambian chemist has built the first integrated drug discovery centre, H3D, in Africa at UCT (University of Cape Town).
Fortune magazine recently ranked Chibale at number 45 of the world’s 50 greatest leaders.
The esteemed scientist is in good company as Bill and Melinda Gates are in the top 50 as well.
The Sunday Times reported that Chibale’s story is an inspirational one as he started from very humble beginnings.
Growing up in rural villages in Zambia, he had to contend with a lack of running water and electricity while growing up.
Now Professor Chibale has a new feather in his cap.
He and his team have discovered a new drug capable of combating Malaria the moment contact is made with it.
It is therefore able to kill the disease and prevent harm to the infected person.
Briefly.co.za revealed the incredible news and it got social media buzzing.
Sibusiso Matinise feels that Chibale serves as an excellent example to foreigners living in South Africa.
Nigel Ashley showed off some Zambian patriotism and pride.
One could sense how much the amazing accomplishment means to Mzansi.
