A Durban man was nearly the victim of a hijacking on Monday but the attacker’s got more than they bargained for.
SAPS representative, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane, confirmed the victim was attacked in Pinetown in the early hours of the morning.
According to reports, one assailant turned off the ignition while the other pulled a knife on the driver of the vehicle.
It is alleged the suspects demanded money and a mobile phone.
News 24 reported that the driver then reached for his firearm and shot both men.
The one suspect died but the other survived with injuries and fled the scene.
Police are yet to find the wounded suspect.
