- Black Coffee and Usher announce their collaboration on new music
- The South African DJ and Usher previously attempted a collaboration in 2016
- “We’re working on music for the future.” R n’ B singer Usher enthused
South African DJ Black Coffee, who has a rolodex of notable international collaborations, has now teamed up with Usher for a new song. Usher, award-winning American R n’ B singer, is currently in the country for the Global Citizen Festival.
The two moguls took to the stage at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 concert on Sunday 2 December to perform a special mash-up of Black Coffee’s hit single, We Dance Again, and Usher’s song with David Guetta, Without You. The collaboration had fans at the festival roaring in appreciation.
Black Coffee later took to Twitter writing: “New music coming out with @usher.” Along with a teaser of the upcoming single.
Black Coffee’s song with Usher may come as a surprise to some of his fans
The DJ revealed last year that he had tried to work with the ‘Love in this club’ sensation in 2016. However, the collaboration fell through after Usher decided not to work with him because he felt the song wasn’t African enough.
Black Coffee recalls, “The following day the response came, and [Usher’s] manager said: ‘No, [Usher] says the song is a bit too modern, [Usher] wanted something African’, and I’m like: ‘Maybe not… We’re not in the jungle right now, Africa is different, Africa is a totally different place.’”
The pair eventually went on to work on Usher’s Tell Me remix. And now, on a highly anticipated new song.
“We’re working on music for the future. The song we worked on so far is incredible,” Usher intimated to Billboard magazine last week.
This is not the first time Black Coffee has worked with a global star. He has teamed up with David Guetta, Alicia Keys, and Drake in the past.
