- Julius Malema has spoken out after a recent Tweet by Jacques Pauw exposed the leaders home address
- The Tweet was posted after news broke that the home the Malema family lived in belonged to notorious businessman Adriano Mazzotti
- Malema’s wife rents the home and lives there with their small children, who are vulnerable after having their location exposed
Julius Malema has spoken out after strange vehicles have been spotted outside his Hyde Park home. Malema’s wife and young children live in the estate, whose exact address had been revealed by journalist Jacques Pauw after he had confirmed the politician did, in fact, reside there.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier on the revelation that the EFF leader rents a home from notorious businessman Adriano Mazzotti in a luxury estate in Joburg. In the ensuing buzz surrounding the story, the address of the home was distributed on social media.
Julius spoke to the press in a briefing in Cape Town on Tuesday and took the opportunity to address the situation. He said that his wife is an educated and independent woman who chose to rent the property in the estate.
“Let her stay where she wants to stay. She is not involved in anything that Mazzotti does, she is renting there. And if tomorrow you arrest Mazzotti and take his properties, she will go and rent somewhere else.”
Understandably the father and husband was deeply concerned for the safety of his family in their home, especially now that people who oppose his narrative have access to the location of his home. eNCA reported that the distressed father said that when it comes to his family “I shoot to kill”
Malema mentioned in the press briefing that Pauw had also revealed the car that his wife drove. He said that anybody who wished to do his family harm could just wait outside their home for a car matching the description.
“I still have bodyguards, and now my wife says strange cars are parking outside the house. And then driving away. Nobody must come there. When it comes to my wife and kids, I shoot to kill”. Said Malema.
The South African National Editors’ Forum( SANEF) has condemned the Tweet by Pauw, which has since been deleted. The author and journalist took to Twitter to defend his actions saying:
“SANEF asked me to delete the tweet with the address of Julius Malema’s house in Mazzotti’s complex. I thought it was justified to post his address as it is a guarded complex with state-of-the-art security. SANEF says it was wrong to do so. I accept that and deleted the tweet.”
