Skeem Saam star Lesego Marakalla: I’m nothing like my character Rachel

It is so rewarding to be bestowed with an accolade for your talent. Taking home the award for the Outstanding Female Villain at the Royalty Soapie Awards, was actress Lesego Marakalla from Skeem Saam.

The only draw-back is that she has encountered people attacking her verbally on the streets thinking she was Rachel.

This can’t be further from the truth as Lesego is nothing like the character Rachel.

Lesego spoke to SunBuzz saying that she does on the odd occasion relate to Rachel but she is not like her.

She went on to say the Rachel does not show respect for anyone and does not batter an eyelid when she hurts someone else, whereas Lesego does definitely not do harm to others.

Briefly.co.za learnt that the only similarity between Lesego and Rachel is that they were both raised by single moms.

It was in 2011 when Skeem Saam first aired that Lesego appeared on the acting scene.

She told the publication that her attending drama classes at Monnyth Art House in Tshwane, assisted her in getting the role of Rachel.

The auditions for the soapie were actually held at the college Lesego was attending. A couple of students were chosen by the college and Lesego came out tops.
