Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, has been named the Most Powerful Woman in the World by Forbes magazine
Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, has taken the number 1 spot on Forbes Most Powerful Women in the World list. Astonishingly Merkel has held the spot for eight years in a row and thirteen times in total.
Angela became the first female Chancellor of Germany in 2005 and is now serving her fourth term in office. Merkel announced in November that she would not only be stepping down as leader of the CDU ( Christian Democratic Union) but she also would not be persuing another term as chancellor in 2021.
Angela is the de facto leader of Europe and leads the region's largest economy after navigating Germany through its financial crisis and back to prosperity.
Merkel's signature leadership is her steely reserve, from not backing down to Donald Trump to allowing Syrian refugees into Germany.
