A young lady has made Mzansi proud after becoming the first South African to graduate under an Erasmus Mundus Master's degree in Heritage Management with Merit.
Thabile Buthelezi took to Twitter to share the exciting news recently, Briefly.co.za gathered. She shared photos of her graduation and wrote:
From Kwa-Mashu to the World. Graduating my Hon. in Applied Ethnomusicology cum laude to being the 1st SAn to receive and graduate under the @Erasmus_Mundus Masters in Heritage Management with Merit, to now a PhD candidate.
According to its website, an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree is a prestigious international study programme that's jointly delivered by an international consortium of universities.
Thabile describes herself as an arts, culture, and heritage enthusiast. She's also a youth and community mobiliser.
She's also the founder of Thabile Buthelezi Foundation, a community development project that advocates for heritage preservation in South Africa.
Thabile is now a PhD candidate. Besides her studies, she also speaks to the youth spoke about the importance of using Art as Activism — how to use music, dance, and creativity to address central issues affecting communities.
