A young South African man named Simon has won praise for showing kindness to an elderly lady recently.
He gave up his spot in a long queue at a Makro store so that the elderly lady, Jo Ross, didn't have to stand for a long time.
Jo's son, Willie Ross, shared the heartwarming story on Positive Racial Sentiments in SA's Facebook page, Briefly.co.za gathered. He accompanied it with a photo of Jo and Simon.
Hi Guys. Yesterday the most beautiful thing happened right in front of my eyes. Me and my mother (Jo Roos) went to Makro to get a few things. After we got our stuff we stood in a very long row for the pay point.
After a while when we got closer to the pay point a young man in his 20s (Simon) approached us and offered my mom a space in front of him in the row to help her not standing in the queue so long. That was amazing. Simon we really celebrate you. You are a real example to many.
Simon won plaudits from commenters as well for his kind gesture. Elizabeth Prinsloo wrote, "Thank you Simon You are a true gentleman."
Brian Stevens also wrote, "Awesome... It cost him nothing and he gained the admiration of people... nice..."
