Chippa United received an early Christmas box as FIFA rewarded them with a whopping R3.3m bonus.

Chippa’s Nigerian goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, was the only PSL player to feature at the World Cup.

Football’s governing body compensated all clubs for releasing their players to participate at the global tournament.

Briefly.co.za previously reported on the US$209-million paid to the 416 eligible clubs.

Times Live reported that Akpeyi’s compensation was based on 28 days, with FIFA’s daily rate of R119 000 per player.

English Premier League champions, Manchester City, topped the list with a massive $5-million fee.

Egyptian club, Al Ahly, R24.2-million received the biggest pay-out of the African teams.
