South Africa may be seriously crime ridden, but you wouldn't expect crime to happen right under the noses of police officers. But, it has happened.
A video was recently shared on a Facebook page, Intelligence Bureau SA, which shows a group of people looting a shop in Johannesburg.
The video, which has been viewed 96 000 times at the time of publishing this article, shows a group of people casually walking out of a shop in Dobsonville with stolen goods cradled in the their arms.
The desperate shop owner is then seen shouting at the looters as they make off with goods they haven't paid for.
While it is unclear what sparked the looting, the event happened oposite a police station.
The video was captioned: 'This is South Africa. 8th Dec happened in Dobsonville corner Lithuli and elias motsoaledi road opposite Dobsonville Police Station.'
Social media users were not impressed and expressed their disbelief
Nicholas Kent commented:
'They are just following the example of the ruling party, steal everything until there is nothing left.'
Sivaji Murukesan couldn't believe it happened right across a police station:
'Public looting opp to police station and they went scott free. Pathetic conditions of a good country.'
Miselo Kazembe had a message for all of Africa:
'Please this video must be shared to all African countries, Africans must not do business in South Africa, because they are not welcome and there is nothing they can do.. Africans must come to my Country Zambia and all Zambians must come back home please because we now have shopping malls and our government is busy fixing the roads, hospitals, many white farmers are also coming from SA to come and improve our agriculture.
Do you think these criminals should be tracked down and face legal action and why?
