Social media left furious by choice of wedding songs on #OPW

Normally Mzansi is left with happy feelings after watching popular TV series Our Perfect Wedding. However, the songs at the latest shared wedding left tweeps with a bitter taste in their mouths, and they discussed it on social media.

African weddings are joyous and colourful occasions, filled with song, dance, and laughter.

TV series Our Perfect Wedding is great at showing South Africa the different ways that different cultures share the union of two people, and viewers really enjoy it.

However, the latest episode left viewers less than impressed by the choice of song at the otherwise lovely wedding.

As reported by TimesLIVE, South Africans were unhappy with the messages of the songs sung during the ceremony.

The songs are age-old and have been sung at countless weddings, but the youth of SA feel they are sending the wrong message to women and certainly giving the wrong advice.

With lines like Lebitla la mosadi ke bogadi, which means "a woman should only leave her marriage through death or she should die married", Monna ga a latiwe ko nyatsing, meaning "a woman shouldn't confront or go get her husband when he's out cheating or he's at his side-chick's place", and Monna ga a latiwe ko jwaleng, which means "a woman should never question her man's whereabouts or go get him at the tavern/shebeen", you can't blame the younger generation for disapproving.
