Arrest those who have their hands in our cookie jar, says president

- President Ramaphosa again addressed how important it is to put an end to corruption

- The President said South Africans want to see government officials serving with integrity and dignity

- He added that corrupt officials must be arrested when found guilty of corruption

President Ramaphosa spoke at the the South African Local Government Association's national members assembly and said officials guilty of corruption must be taken to task.

The President wants anyone who puts their own greed ahead of the interest of South Africans to be arrested.

Ramaphosa added the recent arrests of KZN government officials that were allegedly involved in political killings are a great example of what should be happening, as reported by News24.

This is encouraging. The same should be done to people who have put personal greed ahead of the interest of our people. We must deal with them so that they must become afraid to be arrested themselves. They must know that if they do wrong things, they will be dealt with like we are dealing with the killers here in the province.

The President said that South Africans don't want to see officials "with their hands in our cookie jar".

They don't want to see us misusing and wasting their resources. They want to see us serving them with integrity, with dignity and without any form of corruption whatsoever.
