Dramatic video shows Cape Town community looting stolen truck

A viral video captured the moment a community in Langa, Cape Town, looted a truck in broad daylight recently.

South Africa Live shared the video on its Facebook page yesterday, Briefly.co.za gathered. It's unclear exactly when the incident occurred.

Hijackers had apparently abandoned the truck in the area, leaving the community to help itself on the goods it carried.

Members of the community are seen in the footage desperately scrambling to get something from the truck before the goods ran out.

The video has racked up more than 7,000 views already. It caused some consternation among commenters, but also amusement.

Rubi Mollajee blasted the looters:

And when the company's insurance has to pay, they put up the premiums and then they increase the food prices. Then these very monstrous thugs are the first to complain.

Others saw some humour in the dramatic situation. Zaine Moyisi wrote:

It's called giving back to the community. Salute to those guys. They are the modern day Robin Hoods.
