Student appeals for R60 from 1,000 people to complete his LLB

A Law student at the University of Pretoria has appealed for donations to help him complete his LLB.

Writing on Twitter, 24-year-old Tshepang Molete said he needs about R60,000. He added:

Hi, I'm trying to raise R60 000 for my fees. I need 1000 people to donate R60 to make this possible for me. Visit my @Feenix_org profile or deposit directly into the UP account. I haven't received my results, [so] I'm not sure if I'll be graduating.

According to his profile, Tshepang has raised R2,600 so far. He said he has been receiving sponsorship from a company, but it has since been liquidated.

Tshepang added:

I study law with the hope of specialising in cases dealing with evictions, public interest litigation, and labour law.

A number of well-wishers have already responded favourably to his appeal. Barry Bateman, a well-known journalist, is among them.

Adriaan Basson, News24's editor-in-chief, also publicised Tshepang's appeal in a tweet of his own.
