- Oscar was at a groceries shop in Cape Town when he saw an elderly couple
- They appeared to be a few rands short of their bill
- Oscar kindly paid for the couple's groceries and warmed the hearts of many
A kindhearted young man in Cape Town has won praise for paying for an elderly couple's groceries recently.
Ashley Marais witnessed the heartwarming gesture and shared the story on Positive Racial Sentiments in SA's Facebook page, Briefly.co.za gathered.
Ashley said the young man, Oscar, had finished paying his bill when he noticed the elderly couple named Mr and Mrs Crous.
He then saw Mrs Crous fiddling in her bag to pay for her goodies. She had all sorts of change etc and wanting to put it on the counter to pay. I think she was a few rand short.
Oscar then told her to put all her money away and he paid for her full bill of about R90. I was really moved and had to ask if I could take a picture to show the world how beautiful life can be.
Oscar's gesture inspired dozens of Facebook users who commented on the story. Anja Mackillican said, "Stunning Oscar. Thank you!!! You're a superhero!!"
Christo Nel also wrote, "I dream of a South Africa where this is the norm....a country of compassion, love, and softheartedness."
Azabonga Dayimani praise Oscar too, "Thank you Oscar. The world needs people like you. Together we can do more."
