Jacob Zuma, former president and the man South Africa can't stop talking about, recently joined Twitter. He was warmly welcomed but was forced to address a potential money-making scam in just his second tweet ever.

Regardless, Zuma has been enjoying sharing his views on and off social media, and one of those views is that Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, has potential as a political leader.

Zuma is certain that if Malema is given the right guidance, "something can come of him".

Zuma did an interview with Steve Motale, and it was broadcast on television on Sunday, 16 December.

During the interview, Zuma talked about joining Twitter and what he thinks of Malema. The former ANC leader feels that he does have views that are important enough to share with South Africans.

I do have views that I think are important for people to know.

Zuma also said Malema has potential, as a political leader.

Malema comes from the ANC‚ he was the leader of the youth‚ I interacted with him a great deal. He knows what I said to him at one point about his potential‚ which I still believe‚ if it is properly guided‚ as it was guided in the ANC‚ there is something that can come out of Malema.

Briefly.co.za gathered that after Zuma joined Twitter, Malema sent him a short and sweet "Welcome Baba" to welcome him to the social media platform. Zuma thinks it shows that Malema is thinking positively.

I believe his welcoming me indicated some of his very positive thinking and understanding.
