Love is often akin to a force of nature and this is especially true for 29-year-old Jemma and Daniel Langley, an Australian couple based in Melbourne.

The two childhood friends lost touch with each other at the age of nine, but still ended up getting married 20 years later.

Jemma and Daniel were born just a day of each other at the same hospital in 1989, W24.co.za reports.

Their moms introduced them as newborns, unknowingly establishing a lifelong bond between them. The newborns were also placed in beds next to each other.

Jemma and Daniel's respective families became close as the two kids grew up. However, at the age of nine, the two friends lost contact when their families drifted apart.

Nevertheless, destiny had other plans. Jemma and Daniel reconnected and rekindled their friendship in 2013 when they were 24, Briefly.co.za learned.

They fell in love, became a couple in 2014, and got engaged in 2016. They had a colourful wedding recently and are now expecting their first child.

In an interview, Jemma marvelled at how they were meant to be together, "Every time we tell people [the story], they can’t actually believe it. It’s pretty crazy."

On Valentine's Day last year, Jemma penned a heartfelt tribute to Daniel on her Instagram profile:

It's so crazy to think that I have known you for almost 28 years. You were one of the first people i met in this world and it still gives me goosebumps knowing that I will be marrying you!
We may have lost touch for most of those 28 years, but something definitely brought us back to each other. You make me so incredibly happy and I cannot wait for our future together. I love you so much. Happy Valentine's Day babe.
