People who chase knowledge grow older far slower. At least that's how the saying goes. You know, the saying from China, or India, or somewhere in Asia.

Skeem Saam's Thabo Mkhabela, better known as his character Leshole, recently announced he's going to chase knowledge and head back to school.

Thabo had a dream of becoming a lawyer one day, and he is now ready to make that dream come true.

As TimesLIVE reported, Thabo couldn't get into the law program while he was at university so became an actor instead, but now he will try again.

The actor plans to juggle studying with his acting career.

I am applying to go back to school. Not full-time but while I work. I want to study law. It has always been what I wanted to do and now feels like the right time. Acting was something that I was thrown into, and I enjoy it, but I want to branch out.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Thabo admitted he doesn't see himself still acting in 10 years. He wants to try new things.

I don’t think I want to be acting for 10,20 years. If I don’t go into law, I want to work behind the scenes. It is important for me to try different things.

Thabo added that the industry has one big fault that keeps actors from growing - they use the same actors over and over.

It is very difficult to branch out in this industry. I have shared a stage with many people who today don't have jobs because shows use the same actors over and over again. It is not that simple to get a breakthrough. That is one of my biggest frustrations.

Congratulations on making the decision to better yourself, Thabo. You are an inspiration to South Africans.
