- Dr Nosimphiwe Peni works as a doctor in Cradock, Eastern Cape
- Her clinic is the first 24-hour clinic in the area and serves thousands of people
- She hopes to expand it and employ more people
A young doctor's dedication and determination pushed her to open the first 24-hour clinic in Cradock, Eastern Cape.
Speaking to Beautiful News, Dr Nosiphiwo Peni said she hails from Paterson, about two hours away.
Once she qualified as a doctor, she experienced sheer exhaustion during her community service in Cradock. This was because there was only one hospital in the town and it was understaffed.
This experience touched Nosimphiwo. Instead of moving to the city for easier opportunities, she bravely decided to stay in the town and do something to change the situation.
The determined doctor used her family's funds and own savings to start her 24-hour clinic. She lives on the floor above it.
The decision meant that she would be away from her family and kids, Briefly.co.za learned. However, Nosimphiwo understood that without her services, lives could be on the line:
Anytime when my patients need me, I need to be actively there, and accessible to them. I realised that this change needed to come, and it needed to come from me. If you want to do good, you can.
She now hopes to expand to clinic and employ more locals.
